About Me

I’m just an every day dog owner, with some practical experience to give you some more peace in your home.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science from Utah State University. During my schooling I did an internship with the U.S. Navy training dolphins and Sea Lions. I then worked exclusively training puppies: basic commands, house training, crate training, and manners. I have experience working in pet retail, doggy daycare, and veterinary offices.

I am happily married, have 2 beautiful daughters, and my fur babies: Izzy the dog and Shamu the cat.

Now that I have some human children, my focus is dog sitting and fostering. I have experience with all ages and stages of doghood, and I hope to bring some peace to your home with pets using my diverse experience.

My Philosophy

I use positive reinforcement training, as well as negative punishment (taking away a good thing). I believe there is a place in dog training for other methods: e-collars and prong collars, I just don’t have the necessary experience to comment on such methods or recommend them. Some training equipment such as head leashes and harnesses would be considered negative reinforcement. It’s all jargon we don’t need to get into, but the point is, I believe in rewarding behavior that we want.

My expertise is in puppy training. My goal is to educate dog owners on how to create well-behaved dogs from the beginning, I don’t have the experience to consult dog owners on fixing problem behaviors in adult dogs such as fear and aggression. I do believe adult dogs can be trained to do new things like house training and new behaviors, but I am no animal behaviorist. I believe If everyone trains, socializes, and desensitizes their dogs starting at 8 weeks, there would be a lot less need for harsher methods of training, and we would see a lot fewer animals end up in shelters at no fault of their own.
